Happy New Year to all...
After Christmas the Lizians spent a couple of days with our friends, Peter and Di, who live near Barnsley...
What a wonderful two days it was... here's a few photos from our trip...
"Steam Trains and Sculptures"
On Sunday we had a journey on a steam train from Keighley to Haworth... magical! truly magical! and to crown the day, on the walk back down the cobbled hill from the Church at Haworth, back to the station - it snowed!! only a few flakes, but very atmospheric!
The stations all had coal fires in the ticket offices, all the stations were trimmed with christmas trees and decorations, mince pies were offered on the train... our train even had its buffet car serving real ales! although we opted for the 'hot chocolate' option to keep out the winter chill!!
Here's the station waiting room:

and finally, our dear friends Peter and Di...

is it a ghost? or is it Peter (aka Mr Strange!):

A fantastic day ...followed by Monday and a visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, just off M1, junction 38... if you get the chance to visit it's well worth it... costs about £4 to park your car for the day and after that all you pay for is up to you, in the restaurant and gift shop (our advice is to take a picnic!)
Here's a glimpse of just some of the pieces we saw during our walk around...

Hope you enjoy looking at the photos - we really enjoyed our visit - albeit brief...
Cheers!!
